“We are committed to equality” 🤒

“We celebrate diversity and welcome everyone” 🤢

“We value all people regardless of race, creed, or sexual orientation” 🤮

5 hands in varying skin tones laid flat on a table. The kind of cringey image that usually accompanies a cringey inclusion statement

Yeah, you’re not falling for that. You don’t need one of those cringey backlash-inducing statements that are just corporate hot air, do you?

No. You need a better statement that actually lands

75%

of consumers globally say that diversity and inclusion – or a lack thereof – influence their purchase decisions (Kanta Brand Inclusion Index 2024)

57%

of consumers are more loyal to brands that commit to addressing social inequities in their actions (Deloitte Insights, 2021)

You can’t afford to assume that your inclusive aura will shine through the screen and grab your ideal client's heart without you saying a thing.

People are looking for proof. They want to know that you're committed to inclusivity. Or *poof* off they go.

This isn't something to 'faff about with' when you get a chance. Every day you delay writing an inclusion statement that lands, is another day you risk losing potential clients and the opportunity to build instant trust.

Ok ok Sumi, I need an inclusion statement.

Your inclusion statement would never sound like that corporate guff. No, you'd mean every single word. You want to show you actually get it, not just sound like you do.

Maybe you have an inclusion statement, maybe you haven’t tried because you know, deep down, it'd just be you, a blinking cursor, and a whole lot of nothing.

Either way, you're not about churning out generic statements, are you?

But I feel duty-bound to tell you that even your most heartfelt, "I believe in everyone showing up as their full selves" statement can still whiff of fluffy BS.

Why? Because "nice" doesn't equal "impactful."

It's the difference between an "aww, that's sweet" and a "DAMN, they really mean that." And you want the "DAMN," right?

Let's ditch the well-intentioned fluff and get you writing an inclusion statement that doesn't just sound good, it lands.

It wasn’t DEI for a giant corporation, and it wasn’t cookie-cutter for small businesses.

I felt seen. Your guidance and framework was clearly the result of a lot of expertise, and it felt perfectly matched to my own experiences as a small business person.”

— Anne, Little Skein Yarn

Get an inclusion statement done (and done right) before your tea gets cold. Seriously, 90 minutes. I’m efficient like that…

Because getting it right is crucial for building trust, this workshop also includes my comprehensive review of your statement, making sure it's not just done, but done well.

Imagine this: your ideal clients land on your website and instantly connect.

They believe you, they feel seen and safe, and they trust you. That's the kind of magic a real, no-BS inclusion statement brings.

In this workshop, I'll get you sorted with the tools, the know-how, and the confidence to write (or re-write) a statement that screams 'you're welcome here' to your dream clients and leaves no doubt that you don’t just talk the talk, you live it.

Plus, my detailed feedback on your statement means you can breathe easy knowing your inclusion statement isn’t gonna get you cancelled (joke! Sort of 😉)

You’ll learn:

  • The difference between nice but fluffy, and inclusion statements with impact.

  • Identifying the core values that will drive your authentic message.

  • Practical tips for writing clear, specific, and actionable statements

But listen, this isn't some boring masterclass where you're scribbling notes you'll never look at again. We’re getting hands on.

We’re writing your statement during the workshop

Think group chats, bouncing ideas with your small biz pals in little breakouts, and a bit of coworking.

Plus, after we're done, you can send me your statement for some personalised feedback.

And because I want everyone to get loads of attention, there are only 6 spots.

I imagine your workshops are a lot more fun and entertaining than most

Which in turn also attracts fun and interesting people who take this type of thing seriously.”

— Beth, Fresh Air Thinking

You’re leaving with a statement for your website that’s gonna

  1. Help you get clear on how you really want to show up as an inclusive business.

  2. Create a more inclusive and welcoming online presence.

  3. Stop people side-eyeing your inclusion statement and powerfully build trust

  4. Attract clients who instantly connect with your values.

    (yes, in that order)

Right then, let's get down to writing a statement that builds real trust

places are limited to 6 spots

Got questions? I’ve got answers (probably)

  • Yes! I understand that paying in full upfront isn't always feasible. To make the workshop more accessible, I offer flexible payment plans. You can choose from:

    • 2 payments of £75

    • 3 payments of £50

To set up a payment plan, please complete this short payment plan request form. Once I receive your form, I'll manually set up your payment plan and send you the details.

  • The workshop will be held on Zoom, which offers live transcription and closed captioning. I'll also provide a Google Doc workbook that's designed to be screen-reader friendly (with proper heading structures), and the replay will have closed captions.

When you book, there’s a short form that will ask if you have any access needs, but if you’ve got any accessibility questions before then, just ping me an email at hello@sumifitzgerald.com and we’ll figure it out together.

  • I will send out a replay, but it’s an interactive workshop and the interaction is where the real magic happens. My advice? If you know you can’t make it, drop me an email at hello@sumifitzgerald.com, and I’ll let you know about future dates.

  • You'll have a solid, usable draft ready for your website by the end of the 90 minutes – think of it as 80% there! To get that final 20% and make it truly shine, send it to me after the workshop, and you'll receive my detailed feedback to polish it off within 7 days of submission (as long as you stick to the submission deadlines, which I'll share during the call. If those don't work for you, you can also agree different deadlines with me directly.)

  • After the workshop, you'll have the opportunity to send me your inclusion statement for personalised, actionable feedback on how to make it even more authentic and impactful (no generic ‘good job’ here!). To avoid the inevitable ‘what if it’s sh*t?!’ procrastination, I'm giving you two choices at the end of the workshop: either hit 'send' immediately (go on, be bold!) or within about 3 days (I'll nail down the date, don't worry).

You’ll get your detailed feedback report within roughly 10 days of the workshop date (as long as you stick to the submission deadlines, or have agreed an alternative date with me). Want a final polish? You can ping your revised version back to me within a week of getting your feedback (or if life's chaotic, we can hash out another date). This keeps my sanity intact and ensures your precious statement gets the focused attention it deserves, rather than getting lost in the digital wilderness.

  • Super interactive! We’re writing the statement together in an intimate group (no more than 10). I’ll ask for your thoughts on different inclusion statements, I’ll be answering your burning questions, you’ll be doing writing activities, and we’ll have (optional) breakouts in pairs or trios to bounce ideas. If you already know you'd prefer not to participate in breakouts, I'll provide instructions on how to easily opt out beforehand. And if you're not feeling it on the day, no worries at all – you can also opt out, in a non-awkward way, then. The chat function will also be open if that feels more comfortable for sharing.

  • Nope, just your laptop and a willingness to write (phones can be a bit challenging for juggling everything). To help you feel comfortable and prepared in whatever way works best for you, I'll be sending out an email with some optional writing prompts a few days before the workshop. No need to write anything in advance, but you might find it helpful to reflect or jot down a few notes. A detailed agenda will follow after booking so you know exactly what to expect.

  • That's what I'm here for! I'll guide you through the process. Plus, you'll have your fellow workshop attendees to bounce ideas off and of course, my final review.
